Living in Bali, we witness the effects of deforestation and the overuse of single-use plastics every single day. At Sunrise School, environmental awareness is not just a topic of discussion — it’s an active part of our curriculum. We aim to help our students truly understand not only what is and isn’t good for our planet, but also that they themselves have the power to make a meaningful difference.
Talking about these issues is the first step. Learning about them is the second. But taking action — that’s the third, and that’s what this page is all about.
Sunrise School has set out to create its very own Sunrise Forest — not on the other side of the world, but right here in Bali.
That’s why we’ve chosen the Sumberkima site within The Restoration Club’s Forestry Project. In November, this vision will start to take root: our students from Years 7, 8 and 9 will plant the very first Sunrise trees during their school camp — one tree for every child.
Of course, when it comes to reforestation, the more the better!

In this project, The Restoration Club works with a simple model — one euro per seedling. This means that a donation of 100,000 Indonesian rupiah covers around five seedlings, depending on the exchange rate.
Imagine this: ten years from now, Sunrise students return to our forest to plant new trees — but this time, they’re surrounded not by degraded land, but by a thriving canopy of trees planted by children who began this journey today.
That’s our mission — one we can turn into reality simply by taking action together.
Only children can plant trees for their own future, but we can support them — planting in the knowledge and the hope that one day, they’ll sit in the shade of those very trees.
